About Fork and Me

Well hello y’all and welcome to The Fork in the Road!
This blog has morphed a time or two. It was originally started several years ago as a creative outlet for Heidi, my traveling companion. Heidi moved on to Good Life and I picked up Fork in December of 2010 to share our experiences as Yankee gate guards in southern Texas.

I’ve lived in the Mid-West and on the West Coast but Texas is a world of its own. I’ve had a number of unusual jobs. I’ve been an ice cream dipper; an aid at a long term care facility; a correctional officer; an out-patient therapist in a mental health clinic; the Director of the National Suicide Prevention Center and two crisis intervention centers; an adoption specialist; and for 22 years, I took a wild joy ride as a Public Speaker and Trainer. None of which prepared me for working as a security guard on a gate on an oil rig, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, nearly every single day of the year. :D

Fork is under re-construction once again (March 2012). Although I’ll still write some posts about life as a gate guard, you’ll find more random musing than tarantula encounters. I look forward to your visits and to hearing your tales as I share mine!
Warmly,
Debbie

Thanks, Jill! It’s going through a bit of a facelift and taking some new paths – I think. I’m never sure until I actually do it! ;)
